A rifle barrel features grooves on the internal surface of the barrel to spin the projectile and improve its stability and accuracy. Rifle barrels contain the rapid expanding high-pressure gasses caused by the ignited powder of a cartridge. It uses these gasses to propel the cartridges projectile out of the front end of the firearm at a high velocity.
